Prof. Jackson Akpojaro is a Professor of Computer Science and Machine Learning and Dean, Faculty of Computing, Delta State University, Abraka, Delta State, Nigeria. He holds a B.Sc degree in Computer Science and Statistics from the University of Nigeria (UNN) in 1991, and an MBA in Management from Ekiti State University in 2000. He received his M.Sc in Computer & Information Networks and Ph.D in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of Essex, United Kingdom, in 2002 and 2009 respectively. His time at MIT as a Post-Doctoral Scholar was pivotal in shaping his approach to problem-based teaching and learning.
Prof. Akpojaro's research focus includes Networks/IPs, Machine Learning, Systems Modelling, Data Mining, and Stochastic Processes, with over 55 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has authored several book chapters and a widely used textbook on Networks and IPs. His research contributions have significantly advanced the fields of computer science, intelligent systems, and network engineering.
Prof. Akpojaro has supervised over 85 Master's degree students and 15 Ph.D. candidates, enforcing a curriculum that blends theoretical computer science with practical industry problem-solving and certifications. His mentorship has produced numerous successful graduates who are making significant contributions in academia and industry.
Prof. Akpojaro has served on the boards of several journals and conferences as Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Board Member, and Reviewer for more than 67 journals and conferences. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the DELSU Journal of Computing and Information Systems (DJCIS) and has contributed immensely to promoting quality research and scholarly excellence in computing and information systems.
