Article Processing Charges (APC)

Last Updated: January 2026

Open Access Funding Model
Article Processing Charges (APC) constitute the central mechanism for funding open access scholarly publishing. DELSU Journal of Computing & Information System (DJCIS) applies minimal APC which covers the editorial workflow, production, and long-term hosting, thereby allowing permanently unrestricted online access to published works.

Why Do We Charge APCs?

There is no charge to submit a paper, but publishing a paper in DJCIS requires Article Processing Charges. DJCIS is a self-supporting journal and does not receive funding from any government institution or organization. Hence, the operation of the journal is solely financed by publication fees from authors.

Open access enables far greater distribution of an author's work than the traditional subscription-based publishing model, allowing all interested readers to view, download, print, and redistribute any article without a subscription. This can greatly increase the impact of their work. DJCIS does not generate income from selling subscriptions or pay-per-view fees.

To cover the costs induced by editorial procedures, routine operation, peer-review processing, and maintenance of publication infrastructure, publication costs are paid from an author's research budget or by their supporting institution in the form of Article Processing Charges. These APCs replace subscription charges and allow publishers to make the full-text of every published article freely available to all interested readers.
